Dry Memory, the Inside of a Rose

It was a breezy day outside when Johnny came to fetch me for a coffee meeting. A good time in an afternoon rush to have a coffee on a cozy place where we used to meet back on the times that hurrying is never an option.

Just right before I left  my room. A sudden change of the air seized. Seconds before I set my second step out the room. It was a dry fragment of my childhood. I saw my young self crawling away form the menacing steps of father. Seeing my hands covered up with mud that palette my whole face as I drop myself to fit under my bed. It was dark, but not the usual dark. It could be dim, lighted maybe a bloody moon which appears once in a lightyear perhaps. Reminding me of the perfect love of soft distant lost.

I continue to straddle my third step and the mirage has vanished.

Johnny, in front of his rusty owned jeep which he doesn't want to change from the day his father died, seems to be lighted up by my mere presence. His aura turns lighter than pink but not really pink. An almost peach but whiter than orange peach and darker than hint of pink. Or it might be just the sweet rays of  the afternoon sun which touches the ground and bounces back to his rugged revealed green trousers. I studied his looks and his hair waving on me like it's trying to rope me up closer to him. I stopped around 5 meters away from him making it a good distant just so I can speak up. The moment he made a move to get closer, I get to see his hand on my shoulder caressing my back. I can feel his palm moving onto my shoulder blade. Too late to recognize I am already in his embrace. That nostalgic slumber on my childhood  again seized. Those mud disappeared , now it was him on his innocent caressing. That kid is now a gent with a chest I always buried my face onto as much as I remembered.

In minutes, we're almost on the cozy cafe. The sound, the lights, the tables and curtain reminds me of a fire jocose now turning a graveyard that chills me as we get closer to it.

Johnny walking behind me signaled me to halt from taking steps further.

He was pointing the corner of the cafe. A woman was sitting on the right side sipping a bit of his tea or maybe a latte. But I'm sure it's tea because of the tiny grip where I used to see my grade school mate's grandma always using it whenever she invites us to a tea partyin his favorite tree garden.

I remember that woman. I saw her on the graduation day. She was the face I saw on phone screensaver of a significant person to me. I've saw her many times whenever Johnny and I celebrate occasions.

Johnny ushered me towards the lady and let me sit in front of her. On the opposite, him with her.

I knew it that right this mirror beside the table we seated onto, witnessed my rolling tears. Tears only transparent things can see.

I smiled at them when they handed me a white envelope. Uttering nothing.

It's been 10 years since I saw last time that kind of nostalgic shape of paper when my sister got married. Smells like a lavender that tranquil my wandering mind. Then I saw myself again being seized with my childhood memories. Johnny was cheering me up when I fell down from my bike and we were laughing cause I got bruised on my right knee. I knew that my mom would scold me getting this. And It happened.

I reached out my hand while I try to cover up my light scars on my right knee.

I said to myself. I'm losing a friend forever.

My hands were shaking as I try to unveil the envelope. Johnny pushes back my hand softly on the table.

My phone rang in the midst of my nerves facing them. I stood up and excused myself.

I can vividly remember how his voice echoed on  my head when I walk away. My tears were blinding me and it drown my eyes. I never looked back. So I never looked back.

Blame (A Poem)

Indict me with every valid malice

I am responsible for your mind's death
the fault is in me

I am worthy of your profanity

Incriminate me with every optional hate

throw me a load of rancor
slap me enough with your skewed thoughts

I am worthy of your blaspheme

Accused me with quenching sacrilege

halt my plain sanity
I am  vindicated with my demons

I am worthy for a guilt

Condemn me with unlawful hurt

drown me in the deluge of pain
plagued me with more scars of lies

I am worthy of the villainous

I am worthy of the pain

Put the blame on me
My tears are victorious
I am worthy of the pain

I am worthy of the pain

Unworthy for the freedom

I am worthy of the pain

Unworthy for the life

I am worthy of the pain

Revamping The Perfectionist In Me

Many people I have encountered are inquisitive enough to ask why I feel everything should fall into its right place. There is no assurance of how honest I can be whenever I answer such questions. However, I've always been that kind of perfectionist person that's why. Messy things are fine but I really can make it more organized than anyone anticipate. What I'm trying to say is, I am creative enough to gather all of the mess into perfection.

That perfectionist in me is easily irritated with dull ideas but I still see myself as a merciful individual not to embarrassed someone because to meet my expectations is really out of the box. With great honesty that counts, I have a very high standards in all things, simple or complex. Born with this perfectionist in me is the conviction. I confess, mostly, they see me as a rude and arrogant person because I'm not used to set myself low when I'm in an argument. The conviction is the utmost important. Not letting myself to be charged with such words that people describe me. I am convicted to  see the truth beyond the truth according to the truth I know. This may sound plain selfishness but it's not. If you look at someone that way, you may loose to see the possibilities of how great she thinks of you too.

I maybe convicted with this perfectionism but it never stops from appreciating others, I have diverse internalization and introspection. I am an introvert.I just tend to see things with great perfection because it has been my belief that things can be its best.

Twist It till You Make It

Have you feel like being devastated with your pronunciation?
Since grade school I’ve always been regarded by my teachers to  be a vague speaker of the class. I talk fast and sometimes I tend to swallow some words. In the long run, I learned that talking fast is not impressive in speaking the English language although some rapper at hearts do. But I think it’s quite too late to change it because I’ve  already made it permanent.

I graduated in College with a Course about English Communication but here I am struggling to find a Job that suits my degree in order also not to elevate the rate of underemployment in the country. I acknowledge the fact that being in a call center industry which I tried to apply with requires you to be proficient enough in English. I’m almost there to be honest. I possessed all the good qualities for the career but apparently betrayed and halted because of the way I pronounce and deliver my words. I acknowledge the fact  that this career suits me best if only I don’t have this trouble. Some agrees that I have an Americanized accent, Some says it’s an aussie accent but whatever they are figuring out, both are falsehood. I just speak the way I am comfortable and grown with.

Typically, I have pronunciation problem but day after day since I graduated last May,  I have been improving as what I have projected in my recordings. The only problem now is that I don’t have a speech therapist. I badly need it for the upcoming interview. I just sense that if I’m not going to make it in this job, I’ll end up losing my confidence and so on.

I consider also that I have speech defect but how I could improve this if they keep telling me without further support? Self-practice is even critical because I tend to become bias in no way or the other.
I can still remember the interviewers applaud my wit with how I answered questions but I fail to meet their expectation for a good pronunciation since I graduated with a course very related to such.
They say if you’re skill wise, you can find a job and endure it but in my case, possession of such basic skills about pronunciation is even the toughest thing I failed to improve during my school days.  If I am to blame others for not giving sufficient aid for my own pronunciation trouble, it would end up for the blame bouncing back to me.

I am still trying to have at least recover  from the permanence this negligence left me, and hoping in the long run, they won’t hesitate to accept me in their companies since. I am perfectionist so I am able to bring out the best in me.

Alone (A Poem)

Only four corners
this dark room is my hidden den
I mingle with the echoes inside
eyes blinded with the rugs of lies
raged with the costumed laments

the silence is truly contagious
making my body numbed
but it's them
them who gave me breath
the ones who sharply left me out
abandoned not just twice
but for a lifetime

assured to be jailed in this square den
all I am is bleeding and pleading
then the echoes bounce in the wall
it was time itself quest me to get out
a smirk drew on my face
still laughing in naivety
